Letter from the President

You might wonder why LEAF focuses so heavily on gardening techniques rather than the use of plants as food. This is going to change in 2019, when LEAF will focus on ‘Food Glorious Food’. The Education Team is hard at work on new workshop topics and presenters. Stay posted for big things to come in the new year!

I hope LEAF has brought you some joy – perhaps a special memory of spending  a crisp morning on your knees in the dirt at one of our gardens or chatting with someone you met about veggie recipes. Certainly I enjoy the many amazing folks I’ve met through our small but mighty organization. My community has expanded exponentially since I first offered to coordinate a food swap with Marge Leonard back in 2011.

Your mailbox is no doubt flooded with requests from nonprofits doing awesome things. I hope you’ll include LEAF in your list of worthy causes.

We’re your hyper local source of food growing education and events – most of it free for you and your family. Look for new programs in 2019. Your donation helps keep LEAD volunteers bringing you all this wonderfulness.

Happy holidays.

  1. I look forward to LEAF’s Spring and Summer activities. LEAF is very important to our local community, the broader East Bay and the Global Network of Life. After all LEAF is Life is LEAF. Thank you!
