Stone Garden

The garden was buzzing with volunteers on 10/27 for Make-A-Difference Day. 34 volunteers from Niles Discovery Church, American High School and the Fun Mothers Group worked in teams. One team cleared weeds, then laid down compost and straw. Another deconstructed the big hugel mound and installed a huge gopher barrier. What a job! The Seed Team sorted seeds in preparation for propagation early next year. The Garden Shed team installed the floor. Soon we’ll have a place to store all LEAF’s beekeeping and gardening supplies.

Elaine, the Stone Garden Manager, sends a big THANK YOU to everyone who participated! She also thanks the Compassion Network that sent us volunteers.

Did you know that Make-A-Difference Day was a national event, run by a nonprofit? It folded this year, so the City of Fremont and Compassion Network teamed up so that volunteers could do what they do yet again in 2018.
